Family Fun, Broadways, Concerts, Museums, Picnics, and Fireworks!

Brynne and I went to Mary Poppins and it was AMAZING!

Fireworks on the Hudson. They came off six different barges.

Picnic in Central Park!

Phantom of the Opera

The Fray Concert! Best Concert ever, they sound amazing live!

We were pretty close. Unfortunately my camera died about a song and a half into it so these are the good pics I got before it died.

SOOO many people were there. They said 15 thousand on the first level

Jack's Mannequin opened for them.

We got caught in the pouring rain on the way to the ferry. Luckily it cleared up so we could see the city lights. It turned out nicely.
It was soooo nice to have family here. We were getting kinda homesick. Well....when I say we, I mean I was getting homesick...

This guy kept calling colby into this phone booth to sell him a watch. I believe this was his second trip to the phone booth. He was trying to be so secretive. That's Chinatown for you.

Colby in Times Square- He's a giant.

Brynne in Time's Square. So glad she came so I could have a girl with me!

We walked 20 blocks and were pretty tired;)

Awe;)

The Metropolitian Museum

Dan and I at the Cloisters

The Cloister Museum.

Museum of Natural History

Our cool lunch spot in the middle of the city.

Since our last post we've had 3 weeks full of fun. Brynne came to visit us from Idaho and Drake and Colby came up from Philly for the weekend. We went all over New York: Museums, Central Park, Time Square, Wall Street, Staten Island, the Bronx, and our favorite China Town. We had a little birthday celebration for Dan's birthday on Sunday. It was a great weekend.

On Friday the 26th it was Dan's 24th birthday. Unfortunately we both had to work that day so we celebrated on Thursday and went to the FRAY concert at Jones Beach. It was so amazing! We had 8th row seats. There was no one 2 seats to our left, right, or in front or behind us. So it was nice to be in a stadium with thousands of people but have our own spot. When Issac (the lead singer) came over to our side of the stage we stood up and he looked right at us and pointed and Dan pointed back and he gave us a peace sign. The girl 2 seats to our left asked us if we knew the band and the couple 2 seats to our right asked who we were;) It was the best concert ever! Not to mention they're our favorite band of all time and they sound even better live than over the radio....and our tickets were free;) Thank you Sony.

Saturday we slept in and then got on the subway and I surprised Dan by taking him to Phantom of the Opera. It's the only Broadway he's wanted to see since we've been here. We again had amazing seats, 5th row, and had a great time! It was a million times better than the movie, and we all know the movies good.

For the Fourth of July I was so bummed that we couldn't be in Melba with all of my family. And on top of it I had to work in the morning. So when I got off work Dan picked me up and had a surprise picnic in Central park planned. We found a good spot and joined the other picnic-ers. It was a great surprise. That night we went to the Hudson river to enjoy fireworks shooting off from 6 different piers. It was a little crowded with easily over a million people but still a great night.

We're now hitting the middle point in our summer in NYC. It's a great place; someday's we love it, other's...not so much. We're excited to see where the future takes us and where we'll be living after August. We're excited for Dan's family to come see us the first week of August. If any body else needs to come see the big apple- our apartment is always open!

Sorry it's taken me forever to update the blog. There hasn't been a whole lot going on with us. Most days we both get to work around 10 and come home around 7, eat dinner, watch a movie, and go to sleep. Nothing too exciting. Both of our jobs are going great. I love working at Ann Taylor Loft. It's fun and I really like the people that I work with. Not to mention the sweet discounts;) Dan LOVES working at Sony. He's applied for 4 jobs within Sony this last week. We are hoping that he can land one so we can go back to Idaho and visit our families and grab all of our stuff!!! All those awesome wedding presents are sitting in storage and I can't wait to get them out!
We've spent a lot of time lately talking about the future and what we want to do. Most of it is still undecided, mostly because the future is so unpredictable. Especially with this economy. We are going to try and stay in NY for a while with the hope that Dan will be working for Sony and I'll keep my job at AT. If he doesn't get hired on at sony we'll just go wherever he can find a job. We want to try the NY thing for a while longer to make sure that we've done all we can do before we leave.
We just got called to be primary teachers. We teach the CTR 6 class. They are adorable. I'm going to take a picture of them this sunday hopefully. This weekend we have Brynne and Colby coming to stay with us. We're going to Times Square, Statue of Liberty, all the Museums, and Central Park ect. We'll have lots of picture to put up after this weekend don't worry;)
Here's some pictures of a walk we took in the park right across from our apt
We'd love to hear from all of you so drop us an email at dhmorley@yahoo.com Love you all!

The Big Apple

These guys are real ghost busters. Seriously.
Dan and I are having tons of fun in New York so far. We do something new every weekend. We rode the Statten Island Ferry, saw the Statue of Liberty, and recently went to China Town. We're having tons of fun and meeting lots of great people. Although we did see a woman with a full blown beard yesterday...... We see interesting things every day here.
Dan's job is going really well. He loves it and we are hoping that he gets hired on here.
I just got a job at Ann Taylor Loft. It's 2 blocks from Dan's work, we can ride the subway together it's a perfect job!
