The Big Apple

These guys are real ghost busters. Seriously.
Dan and I are having tons of fun in New York so far. We do something new every weekend. We rode the Statten Island Ferry, saw the Statue of Liberty, and recently went to China Town. We're having tons of fun and meeting lots of great people. Although we did see a woman with a full blown beard yesterday...... We see interesting things every day here.
Dan's job is going really well. He loves it and we are hoping that he gets hired on here.
I just got a job at Ann Taylor Loft. It's 2 blocks from Dan's work, we can ride the subway together it's a perfect job!

New York, New York

View from our apartment

Sony

Out on our fire escape.

Well, It looks like we've survived our first week here. It's been full of up's and downs, but overall it's been great. We flew in on Friday night and jumped in a taxi to get us to our apartment. Tip for non New Yorkers- If the cab driver complains about his tip, don't tip him more. I don't know why they deserve a tip anyways! Taxi rides are scary! It's like, "Hey here's $10 for giving me a heart attack!" Of course his liscence was expired, he hardly spoke english, and we listened to some foreign radio station the whole way.
We finally get our 8 bags up to our apartment and catch our breath then we look around the apartment and see that we'll be living in a nice place. We get all excited and open the windows up and probably 2 minutes after being in our apartment we hear 2 loud bangs followed by ambulance sirens and 2 cop cars right after. What the heck did we just get ourselves into?! The next day the neighbors try to reassure us that they weren't gunshots......but I know they were. And they were only a block and a half away from our apartment. Nice.
Saturday we got our metro cards and we were off to the big city! We found where Dan works and walked around time square and central park. It was a nice day and it got us really excited to be living in such an awesome place.
Sunday we went to church, lucky for us it's a 2 minute walk. The building was packed with tons of friendly people. Some of them are Opra singers or broadway actors and actresses. We met a lot of really nice people. After church we went back into the city to make sure Dan knew his way to Sony for Monday. Suprisingly I knew my way around quite well, Dan on the other hand didn't quite have it down yet;)
Dan started work on Monday and he LOVES it! International marketing is what he wants to do, and so this is almost his dream job;) I'm working on finding a job that I can go to work when he does and come home when he does. I'm not a big fan of going on the subway and stuff by myself yet. I've done it once....and I'm going to wait for a while until I do that again;) There are some interesting people on the Subways. There's homeless people that will get on and tell everyone why we should give them money. There's kids that will come on and breakdance and swing around on the bars and stuff for money. Dan and I got caught between a man and a woman argueing the other night. The man stepped on her foot, she pushed him, he pushed her and I felt like I was with a bunch of little kids.
Dan got some free concert tickets for a girl named Kate Voegel. It was fun to get out of the apartment and see a little more of the city. Please email us and let us know how you all are doing. dhmorley@yahoo.com

It's a Beautiful Life

I was working at Wingers as a server when I met Tim. He was handsome, charming, and 16. Luckily he had an older brother. I scribbled my number on a napkin and ordered Tim to give it to his hopefully handsome and charming older brother. He did, and I recieved a call a few days later on September 1st....... and Dan was in fact handsome and charming.

Our first real date was to the Blackfoot fair, romantic I know. We got an elephant ear and sat on a bench talking for 2 hours. I could not believe how much we had in common. It was like we were twins. I remember checking off my list in my head of the things I wanted in a husband. Dan had them all so far.

From that day on we were inseperable. We were boyfriend and girlfriend 2 weeks later.

And out of our minds in LOVE 2 weeks after that. In one month I had found the man of my dreams.

The picture above was taken on my birthday, December 1st. I was hoping he'd propose then. We'd been dating for 4 months and had talked about it a lot. We both knew it was going to happen, I just didn't know when. I did know that I was sick of telling people that we were going to get married and even had a date, but I didn't have a ring yet! It didn't happen on my birthday and I told him I wasn't going home for Christmas without a ring on my finger.

About 2 weeks later we went up in Drake's plane......we're flying along and all of the sudden I see this........

I knew he was going to propose on the plane that day, I just didn't know how. He absolutely blew me away with this. By far the best proposal ever!!!! I of course said yes and he slipped the most beautiful ring I've ever seen on my finger. Merry Christmas to me!

March 6th, 2009 we were married for time and all eternity in the Boise, ID temple. Best day of my life so far. I felt like I'd been living my life up until this moment. I've been preparing all these years and it finally was here. It was the best feeling in the world.

After the wedding we took off for the Oregon Coast for 5 days. We had a blast. We went to see lighthouses, we went to Haystack rock (A.K.A. Goonie Rock), we ate at the world famous Moe's, we walked on the beach, found sand dollars, we slept in every day, it was perfect!

We are moving to New York City in 2 days for Dan's internship with Sony. We thought we should start a blog to keep everyone updated with pictures and stories. Keep in touch with us and let us know how you all are doing as well!
